Dr. Theron D. Williams is a seasoned pastor, scholar, and thought leader whose life’s work bridges faith, education, and cultural insight.

 

For more than 35 years, he has faithfully served as Pastor of Mt. Carmel Church, where his leadership has shaped generations through preaching, teaching, and community engagement. His pastoral ministry is marked by a deep commitment to biblical scholarship, social justice, and the spiritual formation of believers.

Dr. Williams is the Founder and President of The Bible is Black History Institute and The Institute for African Presence in the Bible Online Academy, innovative educational platforms designed to explore and teach the global and historical presence of African peoples in the biblical narrative.

 

Under his leadership, the Academy has grown to include 48 students from across the United States and internationally, including South Africa, Tanzania, and London, England, reflecting its expanding global impact.

A dedicated scholar, Dr. Williams earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Virginia Union University and his Master of Divinity from the School of Theology at Virginia Union University. He also holds a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Fielding Graduate University and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Chicago Theological Seminary. Currently, he is a Ph.D. candidate in Public Theology and Community Engagement at the Hampton University School of Religion, where his research focuses on theological identity and the transformative power of curriculum and pedagogy.


As a prolific author, Dr. Williams has written 16 books, including the bestselling The Bible is Black History, a groundbreaking work that has influenced readers across the country and beyond. His contributions to literature and ministry were recognized in 2022 when he was named Author of the Year by the Baptist General Convention of Virginia.


Widely respected for his insight and dynamic communication style, Dr. Williams is in high demand as a preacher, lecturer, and conference speaker, both nationally and internationally. Through his preaching, writing, and teaching, he continues to challenge conventional narratives, inspire critical thought, and equip individuals and institutions to engage faith with clarity, conviction, and cultural awareness.
